Alt.Fan.DragonBall little mirror

This is a small mirror for Alt.Fan.DragonBall, a usenet newsgroup. I began reading it a few time ago, and I copy here the posts I found interesting, fun or informative.

You can find lots of thing on this newsgroup, trolls, and also episodes summary (or more complete episode descriptions...) of Dragon Ball!

I translated some posts in french. See here

Hey everybody in alt.fan.dragonball! My name is John Lucas. I made an
announcement some time back about bringing some interesting posts to this
newsgroup about Dragonball.

Many times I have thought to touch down here after watching an episode of DB
or DBZ but never got down to it.
I'll start now...

This ran across my mind months back when they were showing the Frieza saga.

I was watching the episode where Goku dodged Freiza's Kiensans (or Destructo
Discs if you prefer) & tricked Frieza into getting sliced by his own attack.
You know the cool comeuppance nature of it all, you remember...

Anyway...it came to my mind that earlier before Namek became unstable due to
Frieza planet-cidal attack that Krillin threw a Destructo Disc (Kienzan) at
Frieza clipping a piece of his tail.

It showed that Krillin indeed had the potential to defeat Frieza. There was
no resistance or difficulty when Krillin's attack went through Frieza's
tail. It went right on through remember. And because Krillin mostly gets
overlooked as threat (not taken seriously) he could have come through with
the attack when Frieza least expected it.

What do you all think about this scenario? Krillin could have beaten Frieza.
Do you agree?

This is an interesting question.

First I clearly think that the Kienzan Frieza uses against Gokuu that
kills him is the exact same technique Krillin used.
Like Vegeta against oozaru Gohan, he certainly copied it from Krillin.

So would Krillin have killed Frieza if its Kienzan would have touched
his head instead of his tail ? Would Krillin have killed Nappa if its
Kienzan would have touched is face and not his cheek ?

I think not, because in DBZ, an enemy can't be defeated without a big
amount of power equivalent to his. An enemy much stronger can't be
defeated by "ruse".

But a technique can be more useful than another. The Kienzan is
certainly one of the best techniques, because it cuts. I think in the 2
cases I've described, the attacks would have made a big cut on the
enemy body, but they would not have died.
Frieza Kienzan is certainly much more powerful than krilin's, and the
difference is like a small knife and a very big sharp knife.
The small can make you bleed, the big can cut you in half.

Plus, Frieza tail doesn't seems to be really resistant: when Frieza
takes the Genkidama in his face, he only have scratches all over the
body, but its tail is cut (the tail had healed while transforming into
final frieza)

I think a better analogy would be between knife and a tank. The
question is whether the quality of the technique is enough to bridge
the dificit  between Krillen Frieza's respective power levels, it
failed utterly with Perfect Cell. It's irrelevant anyway, without the
others to distract Frieza in the first place Krillen would've been
road kill.
